Senior Systems Engineer
General Dynamics C4 Systems provides its government and commercial customers around the globe with integrated network and communication solutions for mission critical applications including satellite communication, satellite operations, network systems and information services, blue force tracking, homeland security, detection, surveillance, intelligence, and emergency response.
SCOPE OF OPERATION:
Senior Systems Engineer that will support the pursuit of leading edge technology projects in the Federal Civilian Agency and Homeland Security sector.
MISSION:
Lead system architecture definition, requirements analysis, trade studies, design, implementation, integration and test activities.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
To achieve the mission for this position, the Senior Systems Engineer must produce the following critical actions and results:
- Analyze customer requirements and apply industry knowledge and expertise to determine best fit for GDC4S technology and skill set.
- Develops various system engineering products
- Ensures soundness and operational suitability of designs and design concepts through systematic processes
- Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
- Performs analyses at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
- Ensures logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
- Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
- Directs and mentors other members of the system engineering team
- Participates in development of technical strategies and teaming strategies
- Leads large technical proposals
- Advocates and facilitates continuous process improvement and infrastructure changes.
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate will have the following education, work history, knowledge, and skills.
Education: BS/MS engineering degree in either Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
Experience, knowledge and skills required:
- 10 + years of demonstrated results
- Successful past experience as technical leader and ability to direct others in a team environment
- Thorough understanding of the disciplined systems engineering process (e.g., CMMI) and experience working with a range of engineering disciplines (Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Specialty, etc.).
- Experience with the design/fielding of military, federal-civil, or commercial communication systems
- Ability to manage self and others effectively to meet project commitments
- Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
Additional skills desired:
- CISSP or relevant experience with Cybersecurity technology and requirements
- Experience with broadband wireless technology and applications
- Experience with enterprise networking technologies to include VoIP.
- Knowledge/ experience in cyber security
- Experience with APCO P25 radio systems and data networking
